A little house DIY project

I don't know why anyone ever let me be head of a household. I will walk by a space in my house and immediately think, what can I change here? I have to stop myself sometimes, I've even started making a list of things I'd like to do.
I spent the past 11 years moving around Europe from apartment to apartment. Even living here in the summers - I'd usually live out of a suitcase or clear storage bin. So now that I am settled in my home - I can't help, but rearrange and reorganize.
First up on my list was getting rid of our over-sized or tall dinner table. I loved it when the kids were younger, it had a bench, and the high chair fit seamlessly at the table. Well, the kids grew and no one ate at the tall clunky table across from my favorite space in the house - my kitchen.
I got rid of the table and visited a dozen HomeGoods stores, went to the Ikea in college park several times to sit at all the different tables, and then I stalked Wayfair for about a month. After I drove myself insane overanalyzing every table-chair combo, I got off-task and saw an image of a Lotería card in a frame at HomeSense and my idea of a perfect table went out the window. I had to figure out if there were more Lotería cards in Frames at any other HomeSense or HomeGoods.

Let me explain the Lotería obsession first. I grew up with my cousins - no really, they were damn near my siblings. So imagine my grandmother, a mother of 9, having to watch all these damn grandkids from her NINE kids. Ooohhh, I love you, Grandma because I could not! Anyway, she kept us busy with walks and games - hence the Lotería obsession I have.
Lotería is Mexican bingo essentially. Instead of the balls with numbers to call, you use a card with an everyday item or person on it along with a number.
Upon seeing the Lotería print in the store, I immediately knew I needed to collect all of them. Which was actually really difficult but with help from my bestie we got it done. The prints were under $20 each - so it fit my budget and I had a big bare wall where that huge table once was.

It took a couple of weeks and finally a bit of courage to start to tackle this project I imagined in my head. The most nerve racking part was trying to spread out the colors and I wanted it to look like the actual card you're given - but on my wall.
After arranging the prints in a million different combinations, I now knew the exact table I wanted. I wanted something small, but big enough to fit the four of us and simple because there's a big
Mexican bingo card on the wall!

I purchased the table from Wayfair - its small, circular, and the chairs are black - so it goes with the rest of the living room. Seeing the table and accent wall together made my hear swell. So much so, that I turned around and repainted our chalk board wall so it would look amazing like our dining area.
Last thing, shoutout to Command for the velcro adhesives. This was cost efficient and way less stressful than drilling nails into the wall (I'm still an amateur at house demo stuff, but I'm learning).

And I even got a little crazy and painted my fireplace that day too! Im excited to share this journey with you - my house has come a long way and we still got a long way to go!
