The 9-year-old posed an interesting hypothetical question on Saturday. She asked, if you had to live in one season for the rest of your life, which would it be?

I answered Spring, but let's be clear I love the fall - I was just thinking about produce and flowers I prefer in the Spring; Anyway, even though none of us chose Fall - we all thoroughly enjoy the Fall in DC and the DMV area.

One thing we must do each year is visit a pumpkin patch, farm, or market. We hit the Reston Farm Garden Market This weekend, October 25th and 26th, is the lsat weekend for the Fall fest. Tickets are $21.74 for kids and $6.21. I recommend this for 6 and under. The 9-year-old seemed to be chaperoning her little sister - which I didn't mind and thankfully the 12-year-old had baseball.

The market had inflatable slides and a mini hay-ride for the kids. I enjoyed the market. It was stocked with fall goods, popcorn, doughnuts, and a plethora of mums and other fall plants.

The next weekend we visited Magnolia Meadow Farms, which is about an hour drive from D.C. to the Frederick, MD area. The farm is huge. It is nothing but freshly cut grass and wide open space - be prepared if you have runners. The farm is open until November 2nd and they have extended hours coming up soon. We didn't do everything, but we did so much! There's a huge petting zoo area, a metal slide, zip-line, hayride, flower-picking, corn maze, and market area.

There is a nice campfire area by the food and bar. The food was decent - we were late (I'm working on that) - so options were limited. But, we ordered a cheeseburger, hot dogs, crab dip, and fries. I loved the IPA I had - the hard cider wasn't my favorite.

I recommend going early because you can spend the entire day! Pack a cooler, pack marshmallows and smore stuff. The bathrooms are porter-potties - so not great, but I'm telling you now so you'll be prepared.

You can reserve your own campfire space online.

Please, please, please get your tickets early! I did not, but got lucky with other friends that had extra space in their reservation. Tickets go fast.
